22.05.2019 TGS Baltic continuously and extensively assists TV Play Baltics in interactions with regulators

TGS Baltic team is continuously and extensively assisting AS TV Play Baltics (the biggest satellite TV service provider in the Baltic States) in interactions with regulatory authorities (mostly the Lithuanian Radio and Television Commission). The matters include discussions with the authorities on the nature of cross-border satellite TV services and regulation based on the EU legal framework.

 

In addition to everyday advice, our recent work includes representing AS TV Play Baltics in an ongoing legal dispute against the regulatory authority regarding the must-carry obligation of TV programme broadcast by the national broadcaster. In this case, AS TV Play Baltics challenges the obligation of must-carry, as it does not comply with EU law. The latter allows such obligations only for the operators of the network, however national legislation applies the same obligation to all re-broadcasters irrespective of whether they own the network or purchase network services. The dispute is still pending.
