    Carel Kivimaa is a member of our dispute resolution practice group. He specialises mainly in civil proceedings which includes bankruptcy, cross-border and arbitration proceedings. Given his extensive background in IT law, Carel additionally advises clients in technology related matters with a special focus on data protection and privacy issues.

    In addition to various civil litigation and arbitration proceedings, Carel has gathered extensive experience in advising clients in data protection related issues. He is experienced in leading projects that entail all-innclusive GDPR compliance audits of companies with various backgrounds (retail, finance, shipping, IT etc.), advising clients in forming GDPR compliant documents and procedures, training clients’ staff in data protection rules and principles. Furthermore, before joining TGS team, Carel was appointed data protection officer of a major Estonian business advising and audit company.

    Carel holds MA degrees in Law and IT Law from the University of Tartu.  He has been a member of the Estonian Bar Association since 2017.
