Martti Peetsalu has unique experience in advising clients in the field of transport and maritime law, including in connection with rail, air and road transport issues, which are rarely encountered in Estonia. He has represented ship owners, carriers and freight forwarders in cross-border disputes (e.g. seizure, collisions, sales of ships, refinancing transactions), thereby significantly shaping maritime case law. Martti has supplemented his knowledge at Dabelstein & Passehl, a law firm specialising in transportation law, and is actively involved in the work of the Transport Committee of AIJA (International Association of Young Attorneys), thus having a clear overview of the transport and logistics sector.
Martti Peetsalu has broad experience in resolving disputes that have substantially shaped case law, including disputes concerning divisions, non-monetary contributions, pre-emption rights, recovery of dividends, transfer of company, board member’s liabilities and the transfer of shares.
He has also advised clients regarding insolvency, property offences and enforcement proceedings. His experience is not limited to contractual negotiations and legal advice, he has also helped clients in situations where cooperation partners have fallen out and been unwilling to cooperate. His thorough knowledge in dispute resolution enables him to foresee potential problems and react accordingly.
Martti has also represented clients in arbitration and in several cross-border projects that have required a thorough knowledge of international law and coordination skills while working with foreign law firms.
