TGS Baltic’s M&A team led by partner Kadri Kallas advised Posti, the leading postal and logistics service company in Finland, on Estonian contract law and employment law aspects regarding acquiring the in-house logistics company Suomen Transval Group. The transaction is subject to the approval of the Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority.

The acquisition will offer the broadest services on the market and supply chain solutions from transport to warehousing, in-house logistics solutions on the customer’s premises and the flexible use of professionals.

“We have had extensive customer relations with Transval for several years and we have learned to appreciate the values of Transval’s personnel and management, and their successful, customer-oriented, agile and quick procedures. Transval has strong competence in in-house logistics production and committed professional personnel,” said Sari Helander, Senior Vice President of Posti’s Logistics Solutions. According to Transval’s CEO Risto Vilo, Posti and Transval will produce unique efficiency for their customers.

This acquisition is a continuation of Posti’s strategy to grow in logistics, especially in parcels, e-commerce and logistics services. In 2017, Posti entered the in-house logistics markets by establishing Flexo Palvelut. In summer 2018, Posti introduced one of Finland’s largest and most digitalized freight terminals in Vantaa.

Posti is the leading postal and logistics service company in Finland, offering a broad range of postal, logistics, freight and e-commerce services. Posti is present in every municipality in Finland with over 1600 service points and operates also in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Russia, Sweden, Norway, Poland, Germany, Switzerland and United States. All the shares of Posti Group are owned by the state of Finland.

Transval is one of the leading in-house logistics service providers in Finland with more than 20 years of experience in improving operational efficiency and implementing different outsourcing solutions, especially on logistics and manufacturing sites. It employs 3,500 logistics professionals, of which 3,200 work in Finland and 300 in Estonia and Latvia.
